Noted film-maker Mira Nair is bent on making waves. She is in no mood to rest on her laurels. The coveted Golden Lion for her Monsoon Wedding at the Venice Film Festival has whetted her appetite for more. Venice is the past, and Hollywood, the future. So, Mira’s next stop is, understandably, Hollywood.
"I hope to direct Hollywood projects and now have six offers from the biggest studios there. Some of them are really good and I will pick one of them", says Mira Nair, who is in the capital as part of the worldwide release of Monsoon Wedding.
Monsoon Wedding, according to Mira, is a love poem. "It is an experimental film, modern and exuberant in outlook. It captures the singular life-loving spirit of Punjabi culture and is a tribute to my family."
