Dil Chahta Hai to be screened at IFFI

Farhaan Akhtar’s blockbuster Dil Chahta Hai is amongst twenty feature films to be screened at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2002.

Dil Chahta Hai starring Aamir Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia and Preity Zinta, won the National Award for the best popular Hindi feature film for "artistically and humorously" portraying the growing up years of young people in modern society.

Chandni Bar, which fetched Tabu the Best Actress award, is also to be screened at IFFI.

Kannada film Dweepa had won National Award for best feature film of 2001 and Chandni Bar bagged the national award for best film on social issues for the year 2001.

The other feature films selected in the Indian Panorama for screening at the festival are ‘Aamaar Bhuvan’ (Bengali), ‘Mitr My Friend’ (English), ‘Baaja’ (Hindi), ‘Vastupurush’ (Marathi), ‘Kannathil Muthamittal’ (Tamil), ‘Konikar Ramdhenu’ (Assamese), ‘Manda Meyer Upakhyan’ (Bengali), ‘Swaraaj’ (Hindi), ‘Dany’ (Malayalam, ‘Tiladaanam and Show’ (Telegu), ‘Nishad’ (Hindi), ‘Jameela’ (Tamil), ‘Athithi’ (Kannada), ‘Hemanteer Pakki’ (Bengali), ‘Ekti Nadir Aaam’ (Bengali) and ‘Maguni Ra Shagada’ (Oriya).

These feature films were selected from among 96 films for which entries had been received, an official release said.

As many as 11 of 57 films have been selected for screening in the non-feature film category.
