Arjun Sajnani’s period drama Agni Varsha may have bombed in India, but the film is getting rave reviews in US.
Kevin Thomas, a movie critic with the Los Angeles Times puts Agni Varsha in the same league as Aamir Khan’s Lagaan. In his recent review he wrote that the film was an “ambitious, triumphant and sophisticated directorial debut” by Sajnani.
Another columnist Stephen Holden, who writes for The New York Times, also made a laudatory reference to the movie. He wrote that even though Agni Varsha is set in 13th century, “the morality, faith and destiny depicted in the movie transcends time gap and cultures.”
Besides these reviews Agni Varsha is also drawing fans by the hordes in the US.
Agni Varsha is a period film based on the myth of Yavakri episode from Mahabharata. The film stars Raveena Tandon, Jackie Shroff, Milind Soman and Nagarjuna in the leading roles.
