There is no denying that actress Namrata Shirodkar is a ‘camp-follower’ of director Mahesh Manjrekar. But that has not prevented the nubile actress from having her own preferences.
A struggling actress in Bollywood, Namrata became a regular in Manjrekar’s camp after she impressed the director in his film Vaastav opposite Sanjay Dutt. Then followed a string of meaty roles for Namrata in a number of Mahesh’s films like Tera Mera Saath Rahe, Astitva and in-the-making Pran Jaye Par Shaan Na Jaye.
However, Namrata doesn’t seem the kind of actress who would snap any role that comes her way. So when Manjrekar offered her a role in the English version of his Astitva, Namrata politely refused.
She is believed to have declined the offer on the plea that she cannot relate to her character while mouthing English dialogues!
