Actress Dimple Kapadia has always had a knack for snapping up unusual roles. In her next film Leela she is playing an aged woman having a liaison with an 18-year old teenager.
Leela is the directorial debut of the Indian American filmmaker Somnath Sen who has assisted top Bollywood directors like Dharmesh Darshan and David Dhawan before migrating to the US.
The film is based on a controversial story that explores the relationship between a married Indian visiting professor (Dimple) and her 18-year-old student (Amol Mhatre).
Sen admits that it was not easy for him to convince Dimple to play the role. But once the ‘Bobby’ girl consented to act in the film, she went the whole hog and even shot a lovemaking scene (shot in silhouette) with Amol.
Leela is expected to hit the theatres in the first week of November. The film also has veteran Vinod Khanna in important role.
It may be mentioned that Dimple was last seen in a somewhat similar role in Farhaan Akhtar’s Dil Chahta Hai in which she played the love interest of Akshaye Khanna.
