Anoushka Shankar, the prodigious daughter of the Sitar maestro Pt. Ravi Shankar, will make her acting debut on silver screen in director Pamela Rooks' next movie titled 'Dance like a Man'.
Rooks, who earlier adopted Khushwant Singh's 'Train To Pakistan' on celluloid, is now reported to be planning to adopt Bangalore-based English playwright Mahesh Dattani's play titled 'Dance like a Man' on silver screen.
To essay the leading roles in the film Rooks has reportedly signed Anoushka, who recently gave a special performance at a tribute concert to ex-Beatle George Harrison.
Co-starring in the film would be this year's National Award winning actress Shobhna.
Anoushka, who is a practicing Sitar player, had earlier received an acting offer for a small role in an MGM movie. But she turned it down as she wasn't interested in "doing any movie just for the sake of it".
'Dance like a Man' is likely to go on floors in December or early next year.
