Versatile Shabana Azmi will play a stellar role in film critic-turned-director Khalid Mohammad’s next film, which is tentatively titled Tehzeeb.
Khalid Mohammad, who has written scripts for sensible flicks like Sardari Begum and Mammo, has moved on to his next project after the not-so-good response to his directorial debut Fiza (Hrithik, Karisma).
For his second film Khalid is reported to have signed Shabana Azmi to play a crucial role. He is on the lookout for a young Bollywood actress to essay a parallel role in the film. There is speculation that either Tabu or Urmila might be the chosen one.
Tehzeeb is believed to be a film on the complexities of human relations.
Grapevine has it that Jaya Bachchan (who played Hrithik’s mother in Fiza) showed her interest in doing the film but it was Shabana who eventually bagged the role.
