Two of Bollywood’s most awaited movies Saathiya and Kaante will hit the theatres together on December 20.
The repeated postponement of Sanjay Gupta’s Kaante has put the film on a collision course with Yash Chopra productions’ Saathiya. Earlier the movie was slated to hit the theatres during Dussehra, but its release was put off to Diwali and later to Eid.
On the other hand, Shaad Ali-directed Saathiya (Vivek Oberoi and Rani Mukherji) has sailed the smooth course and was initially set for mid-December release.
Shaad, who is making his directorial debut with Saathiya, concedes that he is ‘nervous’ and at the same time ‘excited’ about the fact that his movie is releasing the same day as an Amitabh Bachchan film.
He, however, adds that the two films will not cut into each other’s market share “as Saathiya is a light-hearted romantic flick, while Kaante is a gritty crime thriller.”
