Sanjay Gupta’s crime thriller Kaante is enjoying a good run at the theatres worldwide in the first week of its release.
The film, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Sunil Shetty, Kumar Gaurav and Lucky Ali, is being screened in as many as 550 theatres across India.
People of all age groups, particularly youngsters are flocking the theatres to see the movie, which is based on the story of a gang of bank robbers trying to pull off a grand heist.
In fact, the response Kaante has got at US box office is no less impressive. The movie, being screened at 26 theatres in US, raked in weekend gross earnings amounting to $425,975 in its first week.
The film is also drawing good crowds to 37 theatres in UK and dozens of cinema houses in Canada, Australia, Mauritius, Malaysia and Fiji.
Trade analysts are quoted to be happy with the film’s run so far. Optimism is rife among the Bollywood’s dream merchants that the movie will end the dry spell of flops that the Hindi film industry has been witnessing for a long time.
