Many hopes were pinned on Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor’s latest release Talaash. Sadly, the film looks sinking at the box office after just a few days’ run.
Year 2003 seems to have begun on an unhappy note for Akshay and Kareena. Talaash, their second film together after Abbas Mastan’s Ajnabee, has failed to capture the audience interest.
The Suneel Darshan-directed movie, released on January 3, is based on a clichéd story of a guy who avenges his father’s death and sets out to search for his lost sister. The film’s screenplay is replete with flashes from earlier Bollywood hits like Baazigar and Meri Jung.
Trade analysts say that the latest craze for experimental flicks like Kaante seems to have undermined the importance of films that are based on tried and tested formula. So it was but expected that the movie buffs would prefer to watch a crime thriller like Kaante rather than a kitschy Talaash.
