There is more to Aishwarya Rai than her ethereal beauty and photogenic looks. The actress is getting complements from award-winning director Rituparno Ghosh for her histrionic skills in Bengali film Choker Bali.
Ash’s talent as an actress has already come to notice in Sanjay Bhansali’s Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Devdas.
But the movie that will test Ash’s acting skills is Rituparno Ghosh’s Choker Bali which is based on Rabindranath Tagore's novel of the same name.
The movie, set in the early 20th century Bengal, is a psychological study of relationships between the sexes in a well-to-do family, of shifting eternal triangles, complex motivations, subtle play of emotions.
Ash plays a widow named Binodini in the film.
Ghosh, who calls Ash “a sensitive and intelligent actress,” says while initially he was a bit apprehensive about casting a Bollywood actress to play Binodini, but Ash cast all his doubts away.
