SRK to lead India Day parade in New York

To celebrate India’s 57th Independence Day, superstar Shahrukh Khan is likely to lead the India day parade in New York.

SRK is reported to have accepted the invitation by the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) to participate in the parade and the subsequent banquet in Manhattan, NY. The parade will have SRK playing the leader, known as the grand marshal.

Also likely to participate in the parade are actress Sonali Bendre, former cricket captain Kapil Dev and magician P C Sorcar junior.

The parade, 23rd organized by the association, goes through 14 blocks on New York's Madison Avenue. The parade is always held on next Sunday after August 15 followed by a food festival.

The parade will also have Kiran Bedi, currently with the United Nations, and Indo-US astronaut-in-waiting Sunita Pandya Williams marching in their uniforms.

To mark the day, the famous empire state building will be illuminated in the tricolor of India's national flag during the next weekend.
