Even though Abhishek Bachchan’s Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost is yet to hit the silver screen, the movie has landed into a controversy regarding the legal claim of its script.
Former actor Abhishek Kapoor has issued a public legal notice in a cine trade journal claiming that the script of Lara Dutta and Abhishek Bachchan starrer was written by him.
Abhishek Kapoor is veteran actor Jeetendra’s nephew. He had played the lead opposite Twinkle Khanna in Uff Kya Jadoo Mohabbat Hai.
Kapoor has said that any person or party dealing with Rubberband Films (producer of Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost) in respect of the picture or the rights therein shall be liable for damages and also prosecution under the provisions of the Copyright act 1957.
Movie’s director Apoorva Lakhia and producer Vicky Nihalani are shocked at Kapoor’s claim.
Countering Kapoor’s claim, Lakhia says that he wrote the story of Mumbai Se… six years ago. And since Abhishek Kapoor was his friend in those days, he had given him a copy of the script, which he has apparently used to his unfair advantage.
Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost was slated to hit the marquee on August 22.
