Urmila Matondakar will be seen playing a Sikh girl in director Tanuja Chandra’s English film set against the backdrop of September 11 terrorist attacks on US.
The yet to be titled film is a love story between a Muslim boy and a Sikh girl.
To play Urmila’s costar (the Muslim boy) in the film Tanuja has signed Emraan Hashmi, who has made his Bollywood debut with Vikram Bhatt’s ‘Footpath’.
Tanuja had earlier approached Lara Dutta to play the Sikh girl in the film, but the actress didn’t have any dates to spare for Tanuja. Eventually, Urmila was roped in to play the role.
To be targeted at international audience, the movie will be shot in a 40-day start-to-finish schedule from November to mid-December in New York.
There is likelihood that Naseeruddin Shah may also play a cameo role in the movie.
