It is said that the ‘buxom’ heroine of yesteryears Neetu Singh was Karan Johar’s first choice for an important role in his under-production Kal Ho Na Ho.
But Rishi Kapoor´s gorgeous wife politely turned down the offer. That role ultimately went to Jaya Bachchan.
Johar is not the first filmmaker to approach Neetu for a role. Neetu, who retired soon after marriage 25 years ago, has been approached by several producers and directors to act in their films, but the lady has been politely turning down the offers.
Maybe Neetu can return to films in a character role with husband Rishi, with whom she delivered so many hits in the 70s and the early 80s.
Kal Ho Na Ho will be directed by Karan’s associate director Nikhil Advani while Karan will write the screenplay. Nikhil was the associate director in ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, ‘Mohabbatein’ and ‘K3G’.
Kal Ho Na Ho is a two-hero, two-heroine subject, a thriller.
