In September will release Sudhir Mishra's Calcutta Mail, starring the versatile Anil Kapoor in the lead role.
Having starred in variety of films like 'Eeshwar', 'Lamhe', 'Virasat', '1942-A Love Story', 'Pukar', Anil also played character roles to the hilt in blockbusters like 'Biwi No. 1', 'Mann' and 'Taal'.
And Anil feels that his move to switch over to unconventional roles has helped increase his longevity as an actor.
Saying that he has never aspired to be a star, Anil adds that he has always dreamt about bettering himself as an actor. "I dream of characters not stardom,'' he says.
According to Anil, the decision to do unconventional roles was a deliberate one as he wanted to be different and make a mark for himself.
2004 is an exciting year for Anil as he is getting some interesting offers.
Anil's current films on the floor include 'Musafir', 'Bewafa the unfaithful', 'Allwyn Kalicharan' and 'No Entry'.
Calcutta Mail is set in Calcutta and is about how the main protagonist Avinash (Anil) invites trouble the moment he lands into the city via the "Calcutta Mail" train. The film also stars Rani Mukherjee and Manisha Koirala.
