Anil Kapoor may not have had a hit movie to his name for a long time. But the actor is holding high expectations from 'Calcutta Mail', which is slated to hit the marquee on September 5.
According to Anil's admission, it was he who gave the idea to make 'Calcutta Mail' to director Sudhir Mishra after seeing the Telugu film Choodalani Vundi (starring Chiranjeevi, Anjala Zhaveri and Soundarya).
'Calcutta Mail' is about a migrant from Bihar who is looking for some people in Kolkata. But when he reaches the city, he finds some locals want him dead.
Anil says that while Sudhir was initially hesitant about remaking the movie in Hindi, the director gave his consent after a number of discussions with the actor.
"The story of the movie is very gripping and new. I think audience will like it," says the actor.
In the same breath Anil clarifies that 'Calcutta Mail' is not an art film. It is a commercial film done differently, with elements of action.
The film costars Rani Mukerji and Manisha Koirala.
