His Amar Prem for the classics, brought back matinee idol Rajesh Khanna to Kolkata for his first brush with a Bengali music album on Tagore's songs.

After a long hiatus from the celluloid screen, the superstar of yesteryears is coming back with a booty of films.

But the reason for his sojourn to the city last evening was to release the cassette of Ananda Dhara Bahiche Bhubane, a cassette on Tagore's songs, for which he has also done the music video.

The Anand hero, said, ''Tagore's songs have inspired me greatly. This is very important in today's world when there is so much bloodshed. Sab Ko dil ki shanti chahiye (Everyone wants peace of mind)''.

With this album, Khanna wants to reach both the Bengali and Hindi speaking people. He said, ''I am fortunate to be given this opportunity to spread the message of such a great poet to the world''.

''I had been introduced to Rabindrasangeet in School and later when I grew up read Tagore's translated poems, I realised how universal his creation was. So when I got the invitation I was happy to say yes,'' he said.

Talking about his forthcoming films, Khanna said, ''One film Mazhab Se Mohabbat Tak is a love story set against the backdrop of Godhra riots where I play the role of a Muslim whose daughter falls in love with a Hindu boy. ‘'Chess’ is a Hindi/English thriller, which will be shot in London and ‘Father for Sale’ is an emotional story about how children stop caring and neglecting their parents once they grow old.''

Though open to Bengali films, Khanna said he had not got any worthwhile offer as yet. As for plays and TV serials he just didn't have the time.
