Manoj Bajpai is known for the variety of roles he enacts in Bollywood. In Chandraprakash Dwivedi's Pinjar, the versatile actor plays a sinner who seeks redemption for the horrible act he has committed.
The movie, based on Amrita Pritam's novel, is set against the chaos and mayhem of the Indo-Pak partition time.
In Pinjar, Manoj plays a rustic man named Rashid, who, driven by his sexual lust, does the horrible act of raping a Punjabi woman Puro (played by Urmila Matondakar).
For Manoj, playing Rashid was a challenge as the character has many shades that keep on changing as the story progresses. The insensitive brute in the first half of the film turns into a repentant man troubled by his conscience in the latter half.
Pinjar is expected to hit the marquee on October 24.
