Vivek Oberoi will be seen playing the leading role in Shekhar Kapoor’s bilingual movie Paani which is a fiction drama set in an imaginary city 25 years into the future.
It is learnt that Kapoor is giving final touches to the script of Paani along with Hollywood’s Andrew Niccol. The movie will be produced and directed by Kapoor.
To play the leading role in the movie Kapoor has approached Vivek, who was recently shooting on the sets of Indra Kumar’s comedy Masti.
To be made in English and Hindi Paani will be based on a story set in future when there is very little water left. It is then used like a currency, and with the rich in possession of whatever water is available.
The idea, says Kapoor, was to tell the people the importance of water in life.
While Vivek is slated to play the solo male lead, a heroine opposite him has to be finalised.
The film will have music by A R Rahman.
Paani will go on floors next year. It is going to be budgeted at around Rs 150 crore with a massive set to be constructed in Hyderabad.
