Commercially unsuccessful Pinjar is critics’ delight

Chandraprakash Dwivedi’s Pinjar has not created ripples at the box-office. However, the film has received a lot of critical acclaim.
Pinjar, which stars Urmila Matondkar, Manoj Bajpai, Sanjay Suri, Priyanshu Chatterjee, Sandhali Sinha, Isha Koppikar and Kulbhushan Kharbanda, has been widely appreciated by the critics.
The performances by Urmila and Manoj have come in for a special applause not only from the critics but also from the general public.
The distributors are hoping that the collections of Pinjar will gradually pick up by word-of-mouth publicity and will enjoy a good long run at the BO.
Set in Indo-Pak partition times, Pinjar has Urmila playing a rape victim.
Urmila proves her salt as an actress with a performance that easily deserves an award. Ditto for Manoj and Priyanshu who get under the very skin of their character.
