Aishwarya Rai was supposed to play one of the female leads opposite Aamir Khan in Ketan Mehta's 'The Rising'. However, the actress has been dropped from the project because she was demanding an extravagant fee for the movie.
It is learnt that when Ash signed the project in May this year, she had an understanding with the film's producers regarding her acting fee for the movie.
But, later on, when Ketan announced his plans to make the film in both Hindi and English to cater to international audiences, Ash became apprehensive and demanded a double fee.
Ash's American agent, William Morris, says that the actress wanted to modify the original deal when she learnt that 'The Rising' was to be made in both Hindi and English as she felt that the film now came into the international category.
However, the producers of the film refused to pander to Ash's demands and rather decided to show her the door from the project.
