Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt has plans to produce films that will bring together artists from India and Pakistan.
Mahesh and his daughter Pooja Bhatt are on a noble mission to promote friendliness among the people of the two countries through their films. Just in December last year, Pooja Bhatt’s maiden directorial film Paap became the first Indian movie to premiere at the Kara International Film Festival in Karachi.
Now papa Bhatt has plans to produce films that will join the hearts of people on both sides.
And the good thing is that these films will bring together the artists from both countries and will be based on common themes, unlike those ‘third-rate’ flicks with strong anti-Pak rhetoric.
For his first project Bhatt has teamed up with London-based film producer Sevy Ali of Asian Pictures International to produce a Bollywood film starring Pakistani actress Meera. Bhatt will also write the script for the movie.
Besides this, Bhatt also wants to make another film with Ali on a very strong subject during the partition times. The film will be about those Muslim families who saved lives of many Hindus during the communal riots of 1947.
