Painter-turned-filmmaker M. F. Hussain has said that no one except Tabu could have played the title role in his next movie Meenaxi.
Hussain’s Meenaxi is complete and ready for release. The bearded painter says he is satisfied with the final product and is particularly impressed by its leading actress Tabu.
“I had Tabu in mind the day I conceived the idea of making Meenaxi. Her face has that vulnerability that was needed to play the complex character of Meenaxi. And she has done an excellent job,” says Hussain.
About the movie he says: “It looks at the dilemma and constant conflict between a writer and the characters of his or her work. It tries to capture the various layers revolving around the confrontation between a writer and the characters.”
