John Mathew Mathan, the director of Sarfarosh wanted to cast Aamir Khan in his next film. But the Perfectionist Khan is known to act in only one film at a time.
So when John approached Aamir to act in his next film, rumors are the actor, who played the upright IPS officer Ajay Singh Rathore in Sarfarosh, politely refused for he was too busy in the role of Mangal Pandey in The Rising.
Not wanting to delay his project further, (Sarfarosh came in 1999), John went about searching for another actor and his search ended at Ajay Devgan .
Devgan, who is constantly improving in film after film, ( Khakee the latest) is reported to have given the nod to act in John’s film.
Though the subject of the film is not clear, Shahid Kapoor is also said to have a role in the film.
