Amitabh Bachchan and his good friend and politician Amar Singh were faced with bad treatment by the organisers of Zee awards in Dubai early this week.
It is learnt that Bachchan was not even interested in going to the function in the first place but it was Amar Singh who convinced the superstar to go to the awards. Singh even chartered a plane to get there so that Bahchan could return to Mumbai the next morning to catch his connecting flight to Chennai.
But at the awards ceremony the two were met with the treatment that Singh terms simply as 'horrific'.
It happened that when Bachchan and Singh reached the function, they were given seats in the 14th or 15th row along with the general public, and there was no one from the fraternity to welcome Bachchan.
When Bachchan and Singh got up to leave, the organisers caught them and began to request them to not leave. Then a scuffle took place between Singh and organiser Morani, in full public view.
Although the dispute was settled in few minutes, Amar Singh later got into another spat with Shah Rukh Khan who came forward to defend Morani.
"Had Bachchan been there alone, he'd have suffered the humiliation in silence. That's the kind of person he is. It was fortunate that I was around. I reacted the way I should have. But I have no grudges against anyone - be it Shah Rukh or Morani," Singh said.
