Amrita Rao did not have to put her nose to the grindstone to get her first important project in Bollywood.
Amrita could not have asked for a better Bollywood start than Farah Khan’s Main Hoon Na opposite Zayed Khan . And the role came into Amrita’s lap after she was spotted by Farah in a Bru commercial.
As it happened, Farah was scouting for a fresh face to play a tomboyish character of a college girl in the movie.
She called Amrita for the audition and asked her to enact three scenes as the screen test. But Amrita performed so well that Farah decided to sign her after the very first screen test and the other two were simply skipped.
A student of psychology, Amrita was always fascinated by acting. But never in her wildest dreams did she think that one day she would pursue it, especially because she had no contacts in the film industry at all. Amrita’s first Bollywood film is Raj Kanwar’s Ab Ke Baras.
In Main Hoon Na Amrita plays the character of a bubbly college girl whose life is in danger because she happens to the daughter of an Army General.
