When Kunal Kapoor met Tabu for the first time while shooting for M F Hussain’s Meenaxi, the actress couldn’t believe that he was chosen as her co-star in the film.
In fact, Tabu and Kunal had known each other vaguely through a common friend who is also cousin to Tabu. So although the two had a facial acquaintance, they were not really friends.
When Tabu saw Kunal on the sets of Meenaxi for the first time, she thought he was working as an assistant in the movie. Tabu might have speculated so because Kunal is known to have assisted Rakesh Mehra during the making of Aks.
But when Kunal clarified to Tabu that he was acting opposite her in the film, the actress was simply shocked.
“She went into deep shock and exclaimed, ‘You? You're my actor’,” Kunal recalls.
