Aamir Khan , who is known for his strict selection of films in Bollywood, has consented to play the leading role in director Rakesh Mehra’s film Rang De Basanti.
After a disastrous start as a director with flop Aks, director Rakesh Omprakash Mehra has got his act together. We know that he will direct a film for Amitabh Bachchan’s film production company ABCL.
Besides, this Mehra is also gearing to produce a film himself in collaboration with P. Angad Paul and Nilesh Dadhich [of M.P.D. Films].
The film, titled Rang De Basanti, will have Aamir playing the lead alongside another hero and two heroines. While Mehra is thinking of casting Kunal Kapoor as the second hero, the two leading ladies of the movie are yet to be finalized.
Aamir, who is known for doing not more than one film at a time, will start shooting for Mehra’s movie once he is through with Ketan Mehta’s ‘ The Rising ’ in which he is playing martyred Mangal Pandey.
Rang De Basanti will be made in two languages simultaneously - Hindi and English (with the title ‘Paint It Yellow’). The shooting of the film will most likely start in October this year.
Regarding the strategy of making this bilingual, Mehra says: “the moment a scene for the Hindi version is okayed, we'll film the English one pronto.”
Both the versions will be released simultaneously worldwide.
