Internationally renowned filmmaker Mira Nair's company 'Mirabai Films' is collaborating up with Bala Entertainment Pvt. Ltd to establish a film production company with an unconventional name ‘International Bhenji Brigade’.
In spite of having lived abroad for many years, Mira Nair doesn’t consider herself to be an expatriate. A woman who sees herself as an Indian to the core, Mira has now plans to uplift and boost Asian cinema.
She has established ‘International Bhenji Brigade’, a film production company that will create independent Asian cinema for the global market place.
For the start, the company will develop, finance and produce 3 or more feature films from Asia and the respective diaspora communities.
The formal launch of IBB was declared on April 5 at J.W.Marriott, Juhu in the presence of a number of Bollywood celebrities like Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Javed Akthar, Shabana Azmi, Feroz Khan, Govind Nihalani, Riya and Raima Sen and Isha Koppikar. French pianist Richard Clayderman also flew to Mumbai to be a part of the event.
