Farhaan Akhtar has dispelled the notion that his next movie Lakshya is a purely war film based on the Indo-Pak conflict of Kargil.
Speaking about the movie that stars Hrithik Roshan , Preity Zinta and Amitabh Bachchan in the leading roles, Akhtar says: " Lakshya is not about Kargil. It is about a boy who finds himself. I just chose the army to set him in. You could take the same character, the same situation and set it somewhere else, and the core of the story would still remain the same.”
The director says that ‘Lakshya’ reflects the lack of a properly set aim for an individual during his growing up days.
Farhaan adds that war is only a backdrop to the film and no attempts have been made to resolve or highlight Indo-Pak issues in the movie.
“Lakshya also says if you ignore history, it is more than likely that it could be repeated. Most of all, let us not treat soldiers as statistics but as human beings,” says Farhaan.
Shot in Ladakh, Dehradun and Mumbai, ‘Lakshya’ has musical score by Dil Chahta Hai composers Shankar Ehsaan Loy. The film is scheduled to release on June 18.
