Though his production house Navketan International Films hasn’t churned out a hit film for quite some time, Dev Anand’s enthusiasm for making new films is never in doubt.
Dev Anand recently launched his new film titled ‘Beauty Queen’ and for the first time he has signed Anu Malik to score the music of his film.
And for Malik, working with the ‘evergreen’ actor, producer and director ‘is a dream come true.’
“Working for Devsaab's Navketan is an achievement in itself. It's like reaching the summit of Mount Everest'', says Malik, whose music in Main Hoon Na is creating waves in the market.
Malik now hopes to come up with a score that will be equally heady and make music fans catch their breath. ''If Beauty is Queen, the Melody is King,'' he said in the statement released by Navketan films in Mumbai.
''As a kid I remember my Dad humming Devsaab's tunes. They sound as fresh today as they did 40 years ago. It's amazing,'' he said.
Malik confessed that it was a bit intimidating to follow in the footsteps of giants like S D Burman, Jaidev and R D Burman.
''These are big shoes to fill,'' he says. ''But they are also my big aspiration.''
Anand said that ‘'Beauty Queen’ would try to recapture the age of romance and innocence that one graced the silver screen.
''Navketan has always stood for the modern as well as traditional. Our reputation of being trendsetters is unmatched in excellence,'' he said.
'Devsaab' as he is known observed, ''Music is a divine art. The prophets and poets call it Shiza-e-Rooh, or food for the soul. We hope ‘Beauty Queen’ will provide a rare treat for film and music fans.''
