Kashmira Shah , Bollywood's item girl famous for sizzling cabaret numbers, seems to have joined the bandwagon of bold girls willing to expose for fame.
Having done only marginal appearances in films, Kashmira is now gunning for some limelight in the movie Revati, in which she plays the title role of a girl who is a ragpicker.
There is a song in the movie that shows her taking bath. Kashmira recently shot for the song semi nude (with her back completely exposed) in a bathroom set that had been set up at the whopping cost of 11 lakhs.
According to director of the movie Faroogh Siddiqui, the scene is not erotic but has cinematic importance in the sense that it shows the ragpicker taking bath properly for the first time - taking all the dirt and grime off her body and cleansing her.
"It symbolizes a transformation in her character," says the director.
Revati is believed to be a semi-realistic flick that takes a look into the life of a girl living in Mumbai's slums. The ragpicker outfit that Kashmira wears in the movie was obtained from an actual ragpicking girl in the Dharavi slums of Mumbai.
