Describing Farhaan Akhtar’s Lakshya as the toughest film of her life, Preity Zinta says the movie is about today’s youth, their patriotism and what they think about their country.

Preity got hooked to the movie the minute Farhaan narrated to her the role of a TV journalist she plays in the film. But Preity recalls that she was also hesitant as this kind of role demands tremendous research.

“There is a lot about my character in Lakshya. I was really excited about it because I come from an army background. To prepare for the character I read many books about this war and also spoke to a couple of journalists, including Barkha Dutt on whom my character is modelled,” Preity says about her preparations for the role.

Speaking about Lakshya, Preity says it is not a movie about war. “It's about a boy's journey. War is a part of it. The film looks at the youth of today. My character of Romila is a girl of today. She has a career. She is very sure of what she wants. Hrithik's character is completely opposite to hers.”

The actress says that Lakshya proved to be the toughest film of her career as she had to shoot in very inhospitable conditions.
