Actor Rajat Kapoor’s film Raghu Romeo is inspired from an anecdote by English author Graham Greene.

Although a small budget film without any famous names in the star cast, Raghu Romeo is still drawing a few movie buffs to theatres. The film’s realistic look and the sarcastic tone of its story seem to have gone well with the audience.

Rajat says that he first got the idea to make the movie after he read an anecdote by Graham Greene.

Elaborating further, Rajat talks about the anecdote. It goes back to the days when Greene was in a hospital and in the next bed a little boy died. The mother was stricken with pain. But all she was articulating in her grief were lines from cheap soap operas. That was the seed for Raghu Romeo.

"I wrote it in 2000... I feel popular cinema and television have become distanced from reality. We're surrounded by make-believe images," Rajat is quoted to have said.
