Many people in Bollywood are of the opinion that to make a movie successful at the box-office, one either has to have a big name like Shah Rukh Khan in the credits, or make the movie sexually explicit.
If we gauge the performances of the films released in last one year it becomes clear that in this industry either SRK sells or sex. And this is the opinion that many folks in Bollywood have come to hold lately.
Neha Dhupia , who has become the center of attraction for her bold scenes in forthcoming movie Julie says that today's viewers want the full value of the money they spend on a movie.
"Today, times are such that if you don't have a big name in the cast, the movie is bound to bite the dust. So the filmmakers have little choice but to lure the audience by other means. To me, an exposure of skin can be decent and vulgar depending upon how it is presented," say the Dhupia girl.
A similar point of view is held by filmmaker-scriptwriter Mahesh Bhatt who says that it is about the time we break the shackles of the past and accept sex and related subjects as a part of our life.
"It is a pity that the filmmakers who cannot afford to sign big stars like SRK or Hrithik would not be able to sustain long in Bollywood. So they resort to other means and there is nothing wrong in it. If people want to see sexually-explicit films, we will provide them," says Bhatt.
