Mahima-Paes story: Separated lovers explain their split

Actress Mahima Choudhary and tennis player Leander Paes have split after years of their strong relationship. While there are speculations as to the cause of break-off, Mahima and Paes explain their sides of the story.

In a mail written to a news daily, Paes explains that his relationship with Mahima was over a long time ago. Paes added that his only focus nowadays is to represent his country in the Olympics.

We quote a small excerpt from his mail: “Both Mahima and I know the truth and that to me is what is important. Rest assured, nothing can shift my focus from achieving success for my country at the Olympics in Greece.”

Mahima has an interesting take on Paes’ explanation.

She questions how could her relationship with Paes be over a long time ago when he specially came to India to attend the Enrique Iglesias concert with her in Bangalore on April 13. Mahima adds that Paes also flew all the way from Florida to London to spend the New Year with her and also expressed his unconditional love for her at the Simi Garewal show just a month before that.

Mahima also rubbishes Paes’ talk about playing for his country.

We quote her: “If he loves his country so much, why doesn't he live in his Maha Bharat ? He has been living abroad since he was 14.”

While Mahima and Paes story seems to have reached its fateful end, it is remarkable to notice that in some relationships the two people who once loved to the extent of dying for each other can sometimes begin to demean each other. Perhaps someone has said rightly that there is a thin line between love and hate.
