On the eve of India’s Independence Day, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan said that he was an ardent believer in India’s secularism and democracy.
SRK is a self-confessed proud Indian. In a brief tête-à-tête on the eve of country’s 57th Independence Day, the superstar of the hit movie Main Hoon Na spoke about his beliefs in Indian values, culture and traditions.
“I think India is a very secular country. A common man is not concerned whether the guy sitting next to him is a Hindu or a Muslim. Most of the communal issues that come to fore are usually politically motivated,” said SRK.
SRK then quoted an example from Hindi film industry: “Take our film industry, for example. More than half the actors in the top league are Muslims. Yet nobody has pointed out this fact to me. It shows how comfortably people of different religions and ethnic background gel in our industry.”
SRK said he strongly believed in the democracy of India and its multi cultural diversity.
