Well-known India-born filmmaker Mira Nair has been approached by Warner Brothers to direct the fifth movie in the Harry Potter series, 'Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix'.
Forty-seven-year-old Nair told newspersons in London that the studio had approached her with a script.
"I read it over the weekend. I'm still to decide on the request," she said.
Noted for an individual style, Nair ended her latest film, an adaptation of William Makepeace Thackeray's 19th century novel 'Vanity Fair', with a Bollywood-like happy climax.
Nair, the director of films like 'Salaam Bombay', 'Mississippi Masala' and Monsoon Wedding , is believed was offered more than two million pounds to direct the Potter film.
The first two Potter films were directed by Chris Columbus while this year's 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban' was directed by Mexican filmmaker Alfonso Cuaron.
Director Brit Mike Newell is currently shooting the fourth film in the series, 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire'.
