Pakistani film Khamosh Paani, which has won several awards and laurels on the international film festival circuit, is slated for its commercial release in India in October.
Shot entirely in Pakistan, this Sabiya Sumar-directed film stars Indian actress Kiron Kher in the lead role about a Hindu girl forced to stay in Pakistan after partition and later converted to Islam.
According to Shyam Shroff of 'Shrinagar Films', the distributors of the Pakistani-venture, the film being produced with German and French collaboration made its distribution in India easier.
The plotline of the film, based in Pakistan, revolves round the pervasive influence of religious leaders on common Pakistanis.
The film also has scenes of Sikh pilgrimage site 'Panja Sahib', which will prove added attraction for the audience of Delhi and Punjab territory.
Cine lovers in Mumbai had a chance to see Khamosh Paani earlier at the MAMI film festival, where it was widely appreciated by both critics and the general audience.
