SCOOP!! & NEWS New Zealand PM felicitates Hrithik, Amisha and Rakesh Roshan19th Oct 2004 14.11 IST By ApunKaChoice Bureau New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark on Monday felicitated Bollywood stars Hrithik Roshan , Amisha Patel and noted director Rakesh Roshan in Mumbai for their contribution in showcasing New Zealand to India through their superhit film Kaho Na Pyar Hai . On her four-day visit to India to strengthen business and cultural ties between the two nations, Ms Clark tried to woo filmmakers in Bollywood by highlighting New Zealand's attractiveness as a filmmaking destination. 
In her address, she said: ''Over 100 Bollywood movies had been filmed in the scenic backdrop of New Zealand in last five years. And many more Hindi movies are expected to shoot at the various locations of New Zealand.'' The Kiwi premier also acknowledged the “part played by the makers of Kaho Na Pyar Hai in promoting the country as the international tourist destination. She informed that the number of Indian tourists visiting New Zealand had grown manifold after the spectacular success of the movie in 1999. Emphasizing the scenic beauty of New Zealand, Ms Clark said: “'New Zealand is quite possibly the only place in the world where filmmakers will find sub-tropical rainforests, snowy alps, lush green farmland, sandy beaches, craggy coastlines, high country sheep and cattle stations, citrus groves and the steel and urban landscapes within a relatively short distance of each other.” |
