Kis Kis Ki Kismat mein hai yeh boring movie?

Kis Kis Ki Kismat is a ludicrous comedy sprinkled with sufficient dose of skin exposure (so indispensable in films nowadays) by sensuous Mallika Sherawat to ‘arouse’ the viewers in the middle of laughs.

The movie, directed by Govind Menon, marks the comeback of Dharmendra , whose comic sense was once unparalleled. In the film he plays an influential stockbroker Hasmukh Mehta, who becomes a fatherly figure to a young babe Meena (Mallika). But people misunderstand their relationship and think that Mehta is keeping a mistress. The comic situations in the film arise out of this misunderstanding.

Despite having a recipe for an appealing film, Kis Kis Ki Kismat simply disappoints. Reason? There is not good enough story to support the comic acts. The situations in the movie seem too deliberately created. The writers have relied too heavily on coincidence and ludicrous situations to invoke mirth.

Those who expect to see Dharmendra in his ‘comic avatar of yore’ will be disappointed too. The bygones are bygones, and also gone along is the comic sense of that inimitable Dharmendra who could once arouse laughter by just a facial expression. The actor is stiff in the movie and fails to identify with his character and (worst of all) fails to conceal his failure, for it is written all over the screen for those who can discern good acting from hamming.

Mallika Sherawat’s acting is restricted to shouting, scowling and flaunting her curves and cleavage. Satish Shah is the only one who shows a genuine flair for comedy.

On the whole, Kis Kis Ki Kismat will appeal only to those who dig ludicrous comedy with superficial situations. Those who care for genuine humor should give this ‘kiss’ a miss.
