Former Miss India-Asia Pacific Shweta Menon has angered the residents of Alwar city after she walked the ramp wrapped in the national flag and unfurled it to show her skimpy two-piece outfit underneath.
According to a witness to the fashion show that was organized by the National Institute of Fashion Design on Sunday, Shweta came on the ramp “with her body wrapped in the national flag and after walking a small distance on the ramp she unwrapped the flag. She was wearing very less underneath.”
Shweta’s act has invoked protests from the residents of Alwar city, some of who are former freedom fighters. Many people have taken strong objection to the use of national flag to cover Shweta’s skimpily clad body and called it ‘a disrespect to the national flag’.
While residents are demanding an immediate apology from Shweta, the lissome belle says she did not mean to disrespect the national flag.
It may be recalled that in the year 2000, fashion designer Malini Ramani got into trouble after she showed a knee-length dress, which looked like a tricolor wrapped around the body.
