SCOOP!! & NEWS Ashutosh gets a place in Oscars panel 05th Nov 2004  15.45 IST By ApunKaChoice Bureau   Bollywood filmmaker Ashutosh Gowarikar , whose film Lagaan with Aamir Khan was nominated for the Oscars, has been selected in the director’s branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Ashutosh will be a part of the Oscar jury and will have voting rights for the coming Academy awards. It is learnt that the officials at the Academy will be sending to Ashutosh the DVD's of all the Oscar nominated films in about 20 categories for evaluation. Speaking to a news channel, Ashutosh said that he was honored at the decision of Academy to include him in the jury, though he would have loved to vote for Foreign Films section as well. He added that the membership (which is for life) also allows him access to the Academy's library and film archives. Ashutosh is presently giving final touches to his forthcoming film Swades starring Shah Rukh Khan .
