SCOOP!! & NEWS Pakistani actress Meera in Bollywood’s Nazar07th Nov 2004 22.19 IST By Aparajita Ghosh Twenty-one year old Pakistani actress Meera is making her Bollywood debut in Soni Razdan ’s suspense thriller Nazar . Meera is shooting for the film in Goa nowadays. Meera, fondly referred as ‘Madhuri Dixit of Pakistan’, has taken her first step into Hindi film industry. She frankly admits that she was always fond of Hindustani culture and traditions, and had a dream of playing a Hindustani girl in a Bollywood film. 
Meera’s dream was realized when she was offered her first Bollywood film by filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt at Kara Film Festival in Karachi. The film Nazar is currently on the floors and is being produced together by Sohail khan of Pakistan and Vishesh films by Mukesh Bhatt from India. Believed to be a murder mystery with supernatural tones, the film has Meera playing a singer. Her co-star in the movie is Ashmit Patel who plays a cop in the film. Speaking about the film Meera reportedly said in an interview: “ It is a female-oriented subject. When Maheshji narrated the story idea and character, I liked them very much.” Another reason why Meera is doing the film is “in the name of friendship between Hindustan and Pakistan. New roads are opening and as the friendship deepens, I thought I should contribute my bit too.” Shooting for the film is going on in Goa. It is expected to release early next year. |
