It is a role that demands beauty, elegance and grace, and Aishwarya Rai seems to have all of it.
According to the latest reports, Ash is being considered to play Gautama Buddha’s wife in a Rs 200-crore movie being produced by the Mahabodhi Society of India and to be directed by Shekhar Kapoor .
If Ash agrees to do this movie, she will be seen playing princess Yashodhara whom Gautama Siddhartha married at the age of 16 and had a son named Rahul. Later on, when Gautama left his palaces to meditate and got enlightened as Buddha, Yashodhara too turned into a monk.
Uncertainty still remains as to who will play the role of Lord Buddha in the film.
However, it is known for sure that Hollywood stars like Brad Pitt and Richard Gere would be part of the project.
The film will go on floors early next year and is scheduled for release in the year 2006 to coincide with the 2550th birth anniversary of the founder of Buddhism.
