Renowned filmmaker Mira Nair is having difficulty in finding actors who can commit to her next project ‘The Namesake’.
First it was Rani Mukherjee who opted out of the movie because the hazel-eyed beauty could not resist doing Karan Johar ’s next film. However, Mira soon found a replacement and roped in Bengali belle Konkana Sen for the role.
But now the movie seems to have got another setback because Abhishek Bachchan has reportedly bowed out of the project.
Sources say that Abhishek had date problems and could not commit to Mira’s project and therefore excused himself.
The film is based on Pulitzer Prize-winning Jhumpa Lahiri's novel about the Bengali expatriate community in Boston. It features a cast of Indian and American actors.
The film will be shot both in Kolkata and New York.
Nair says the film will be her tribute to Kolkata.
