2004: Break-ups and new beginnings in Bollywood

One Bollywood star walked out of his decade long marriage. Another star was linked with a woman assistant director. And some actresses moved in the family way in this year filled with heartaches for some and new beginnings for others.

Life of some Bollywood stars in the year 2004 was not without the drama of movies they work in.

Saif Ali Khan walked out of his decade long marriage with Amrita Singh a few months back. While the reason for the split between the two was never made public, Saif was spotted a month later in Toronto with an Italian brunette named Rosa. Saif had met her during the making of Hum Tum At home, Amrita too moved on with her life and returned to acting in a Balaji soap Kul on TV.

Year 2003 had seen a similar end to Aamir Khan ’s 16-year marriage with Reena Dutta. This year, Aamir was linked with the Bangalore girl Kiran Rao after the reports came in that the perfectionist Khan had secretly married Kiran in UK.

Later, Aamir denied the rumor of marriage but also did not make any comment about his relationship with Kiran, who had worked as an assistant director in his movie Lagaan . Aamir kept tight lipped about Kiran and insisted that his “private life was nobody’s business.”

Gossipmongers did not spare even the happily married Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna and tried to blow dust on their marriage with the rumors of Akshay’s affair with actress Priyanka Chopra .

There emerged the tales of fight between Akshay and Twinkle in a Goa hotel over Priyanka. But such fancy talks turned out to be baseless rumors later when Akki made clear that nothing like that had happened and urged the wagging tongues to spare him and let him live his happy life with Twinkle and son Araav.

Year 2004 also marked happy new beginnings for some stars. Raveena Tandon tied the nuptial knot with film distributor Anil Thadani, while Karisma Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit are expecting babies. Twinkle’s sister Rinkie Khanna gave birth to a girl while others like Arshad Warsi , Jimmy Shergil and Ashutosh Rana , too, became proud parents.
