Three big releases are slated to mark the beginning of year 2005 in January followed by a number of big flicks throughout the year.
2005 promises a cinematic feast for the lovers of Bollywood movies. Subhash Ghai’s Kisna , unarguably the most awaited film nowadays, is scheduled to hit the theatres in January along with Pooja Bhatt’s Rog .
Aamir Khan will also be seen on the silver screen after a good gap of two years in Ketan Mehta’s epic The Rising which stars a host of international stars.
Also hitting the marquee in the early part of the year will be Aishwarya Rai starrer Shabd and Sanjay Bhansali’s Black .
Of the two, it is Bhansali’s film that is more eagerly awaited partly because of its unusual theme and the starcast comprising of Amitabh Bachchan and Rani Mukherjee .
If 2004 proved to be an inconsequential year for Bachchan (he was seen merely in marginal appearances), 2005 promises more full-fledged roles by the superstar.
He is already working on two plum projects in which he will be seen playing a don. The first is his home production Family and the second is Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar . While ‘Family’ (to be directed by Rajkumar Santoshi) shows Bachchan as the bearded, cigar-smoking don, Varma’s film shows him as a bespectacled, serene-looking and de-sensitized godfather.
Year 2005 will also see the coming together of father-son duo Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan on the big screen for the first time. Abhishek, particularly, is expecting a good year with Shaad Ali’s Babli Aur Bunty expected to pull young crowd to cine theatres.
Shah Rukh Khan , on the other hand, can look forward to his two forthcoming movies – one, Karan Johar’s Kaal and the other is Amol Palekar-directed movie to be produced by king Khan himself.
