New York Sikh playboy looks to Bollywood 12th Jan 2005

After the international success of his debut movie One Dollar Curry , Vikram Chatwal , the 'Manhattan playboy' and 'turban cowboy,' wants to do meaningful movies in Bollywood.
The 33-year-old Sikh hotelier from New York, who plays the lead role in the movie says he is open to acting now and wants to do good and meaningful movies.
"I'm taking my career very seriously. I picked 'One Dollar Curry' as my debut film because I could make a spiritual connection with the subject," says Chatwal, an ardent Hindi movie watcher and a die-hard Amitabh Bachchan fan.
"At present, I am doing a movie by Tanuja Chandra called 'Hope and a Little Sugar' and I have also got some other offers." Chatwal co-stars with Mahima Choudhary and Anupam Kher in the movie.
Asked what does he feel about Bollywood, he says "the people out here are really hardworking and skillful. I saw the technicians working, they are very dedicated and gives their 100 per cent in the movie. That is a difference I have noticed," he says.
Chatwal, a graduate from the Wharton School of Business and a leading New York restaurateur, says "I was able to relate to the character, I identified with the insecurities of immigrants."
